Privacy Policy
Effective July 30, 2026
Draft notice: This policy is a working draft prepared for launch and has not yet been reviewed by an attorney. Because Yarderly processes payments and background checks, it should be reviewed by counsel — including for FCRA and state privacy law compliance — before public launch.
1. What we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, phone number if you provide one, and whether you are a Homeowner or a Pro.
Booking information. Service addresses, yard size, scheduling preferences, notes you write for your Pro, and photos you upload of the property or completed work.
Pro business information. Business name, description, the zip codes you serve, and your pricing.
Payment references. Stripe identifiers and payment status. We never receive or store your full card number or bank account details — Stripe collects those directly.
Location (Pros only, while traveling to a job). If a Pro is using the Yarderly mobile app and marks themselves on the wayto a job, the app shares their device location so that job’s Homeowner can see them approaching. Specifically:
- Sharing happens onlywhile the job status is “on the way,” and only with that job’s Homeowner.
- We request foreground location only. Yarderly does not track a Pro in the background or when the app is closed.
- We store a single current position per job, overwritten in place — we do not build a location history.
- The position is deleted automatically the moment the Pro marks themselves arrived, and a Pro can stop sharing at any time.
- Declining location permission does not prevent working on Yarderly.
Background check status (Pros only). If you start a background check, our provider collects your identity information on their own secure form. We receive only the resulting status (for example, clear or needs review) — not the underlying report contents from that form.
2. How we use it
- To create and operate your account.
- To match Homeowners with Pros who serve their area and to produce estimates.
- To process payments, commissions, and payouts.
- To send transactional email — booking confirmations, price approvals, receipts, and review requests.
- To verify Pros and support trust and safety.
- To provide customer support and resolve disputes.
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
3. What other users can see
Your privacy between users is enforced in our database, not just in the app:
- Homeowners see a Pro’s business name, ratings, verification badges, and pricing.
- A Pro sees a Homeowner’s service address, notes, and photos only for a booking assigned to them.
- Booking photos are stored privately and are visible only to the Homeowner and the assigned Pro.
- Reviews you write are visible to other users.
4. Service providers we share data with
We share only what each provider needs to do its job:
- Stripe — payment processing and Pro payouts (payment and identity data).
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and photo storage.
- Checkr — background checks for Pros who start one.
- Resend — sending transactional email.
- Vercel — website hosting.
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users.
5. Background checks and the FCRA
Background checks are performed by a consumer reporting agency. If you are a Pro, you will be asked for your consent on that provider’s own form before any check runs. If we ever take adverse action based on a report, you have rights under the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act, including the right to be notified and to dispute inaccurate information.
6. How long we keep information
We keep account and booking records while your account is active and afterward as needed for legal, tax, accounting, and dispute-resolution purposes. Payment records are retained as required by law and by our payment processor.
7. Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to user data is restricted by row-level security rules in our database, so one user cannot read another user’s data. Sensitive operations such as payment status changes are performed only by trusted server-side processes. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these protections seriously and continue to improve them.
8. Your choices and rights
- You can view and update your profile at any time in the app.
- You can request a copy of your data, or ask us to delete your account, by contacting us.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, or limit use of your information.
Some records must be retained even after account deletion — for example, completed transaction records required for tax and legal compliance.
9. Children
Yarderly is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
